Targeting neuroinflammation for the treatment of retinal degenerative diseases?
On Wednesday, June 15th 2016 at 16:15, Visiting Scientist Dr. Francisco Ambrosio, PhD from the Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Life Sciences (IBILI) in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Coimbra, Portugal
will give a talke on “Targeting neuroinflammation for the treatment of retinal degenerative diseases?” in the Lecture Hall of the Eye Hospital, Building 34, ground floor (Dept. of Ophthalmology, University of Cologne).
Dr. Ambrosio is Group Leader of the Retinal Dysfunction and Neuroinflammation Lab. His main research interests are focused on retinal degenerative diseases, namely diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. More recently, he became interested in the concept of “Retina as a Window to the Brain”, because the retina is also affected in neurodegenerative disorders. It can therefore be envisaged as a tool for brain neurodegenerative disease diagnosis and as a potential biomarker.
