Professor Reza Dana, M.D., Ph.D., is a cornea expert and ocular immunologist. He is the Claes Dohlman Chair in Ophthalmology, the Director of the Cornea Service and leader of a translational research program at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and a Senior Scientist at the Schepens Research Institute (all Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA). Dr. Sadda is President & Chief Scientific Officer of the  Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles CA, USA. He is an internationally recognized expert in the area of retinal imaging. Dr. Mike (Przemyslaw) Sapieha is the director of the Neurovascular Eye Disease Lab at the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital Research Centre (HMR - RC) and holds the Wolfe Professorship in translational vision research and a Canada Research Chair in retinal cell biology. Professor Christiana Ruhrberg is an internationally known expert in neuronal and vascular development and one of the world’s leading researchers in defining mechanisms of blood vessel growth in the brain and eye. Her three main interests are neurovascular co-patterning, molecular regulation of angiogenesis, and signal transduction in vascular hyperpermeability. Akiyoshi Uemura (MD, PhD) is Professor at the Department of Retinal Vascular Biology at Nagoya City University, Japan. His three recent papers published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation and a seminal report in Cancer Cell highlight the function of important vascular factors and pericytes for retinal and tumor angiogenesis. On 18 September, he will give a talk on "Sustained inflammation and fibrosis in pericyte-defiicient retina".
