Faculty prize for PD Dr. Schrittenlocher – Awarded for best habilitation in 2022

Priv.-Doz. Dr. Silvia Schrittenlocher, specialist in cornea and glaucoma at the Center for Ophthalmology at Cologne University Hospital, has been awarded the Faculty Prize for Science 2022 by the Faculty of Medicine and the Förderkreis Medizin e.V. for the best habilitation achievement. The certificate for the 1,500 euro prize was presented in mid-February by Dean Prof. Dr. Gereon Fink. The title of the award-winning habilitation thesis is “Clinical experience with posterior lamellar keratoplasty Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty”. It describes clinical experiences and optimization possibilities of a modern procedure for partial corneal transplantation (Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty, DMEK for short). The approach of the habilitation thesis is creative and original, as it describes various aspects regarding the implementation and complications of the new procedure. Dr. Schrittenlocher has been working as a scientist for nine years. Her publications to date add up to around 101 impact factor points and her work has been cited over 370 times by other scientists.
