International guest from Japan

The Department of Ophthalmology of the University of Cologne was honored to host Associate Professor Takefumi Yamaguchi from Tokyo Dental College. During his recent visit, he attended corneal surgeries with a rich exchange on surgery techniques with Prof. Cursiefen and his team. Afterwards Prof. Yamaguchi gave a guest lecture titled “Visual optics in corneal transplantation to achieve better visual acuity”, where he shared the findings of his research group on high order aberrations in different corneal diseases and the relationship between aqueous humor milieu and endothelial cell loss after corneal transplantation.

Prof. Dr. Takefumi Yamaguchi, a clinician scientist, is currently Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, Tokyo Dental College, Tokyo Japan. He also holds senior academic appointments in the Ophthalmology Department at Keio University School of Medicine where he carries out his collaborative basic research.
