BEAT-ROP: Beat retinal angiogenesis in Retinopathy of Prematurity
Dr. Andreas Stahl (Freiburg i.Br.) was a Visiting Scientist at the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Cologne on September 17th, 2015, invited by Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Claus Cursiefen, Speaker of the DFG research unit FOR2240 “Angiogenesis, lymph angiogenesis and cellular immunity in inflammatory diseases of the eye” and Director of the Department of Ophthalmology . Dr. Stahl gave a talk on “Retinopathy of prematurity. An update on clinical developments and basic science”.
Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. Stahl, a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmologists (FEBO), is the Head of the Angiogenesis Laboratory, an Attending Physician in Surgical Retina, and an Assistant Professor with an Independent Research Grant (DFG) at the Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg i. Br., Germany. He received the Research Award “Retina” at the German Ophthalmic Surgeons Conference (DOC), and is the editor of Anti-angiogenic Therapy in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Stahl met with the teams of FOR2240 Principle Investigators Dr. med. Felix Bock, Univ.-Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Thomas Langmann, who is also the Vice-Speaker of FOR2240, and Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. Philipp Steven.
Also presenting a talk on September 17th, 2015 was Dr. Medhat S. Abdel-Salam of Cairo, Eygpt , invited by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Bernd Kirchhof, Chairman of Vitrioretinal Surgery in the Department of Ophthalmology in Cologne and an advisor to FOR2240.
