Modern laboratory – microscope donated
With the help of the “Paul und Erna Niemann Stiftung” and the Förderverein “Forschung für das Sehen e.V.”, a modern cell culture microscope for basic research on the eye could be purchased for the Experimental Ophthalmology Department.
The “Paul and Erna Niemann Stiftung” promotes aid for people with disabilities, in particular projects and institutions that support people with a visual impairment. Thanks to the generous financial support, it has now been possible to purchase a modern cell culture microscope for basic research on the eye for Experimental Ophthalmology in cooperation with the Förderverein Forschung für das Sehen. “With the help of the microscope, research into improving corneal transplants can be further advanced,” says Prof. Dr. Felix Bock, Scientific Director of Experimental Ophthalmology at the Center for Ophthalmology at the University Hospital of Cologne.
Prof. Bock and Gabriele Braun, Medical Technical Laboratory Assistant, accepted the donation from Mrs. Martina Schönhals, Niemann Foundation, and Anne Christine Kerp, Förderverein Forschung für das Sehen e.V..
