FOR 2240 members among the top German-speaking ophthalmologic clinician-scientists
Laborjournal recently published a list of the top 50 most-cited ophthalmologists in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Researchers and clinicians were included in the list. Four individuals from the Dept. of Ophthalmology at the University of Cologne were in the top 50: Prof. Cursiefen, Prof. Kirchhof, Prof. Bachmann and Prof. Fauser. Two of these are leaders in the DFG-funded research group FOR 2240: Prof. Cursiefen in third place and Prof. Fauser in 33rd. Prof. Cursiefen, the Chairman of the Dept. of Ophthalmology, is the Speaker of FOR 2240 and a principle investigator in two of the projects, and Prof. Fauser is one of the principle investigators of Project 6, “Role of the complement system and microglia in age-related macular degeneration.” The analysis from February 2016 was based on publications from 2010-2014.
